Gisela Insuaste (she/they) is an Oakland-based artist, arts educator, and cultural producer who creates opportunities for youth, adults, and the community to connect to and engage in art. She explores the intersection of architecture, memory, myth, and topography through painting, installation, and sculpture. She maps the idiosyncrasies of urban and natural spaces (real/imagined) to address our individual and shared cultural space and identity. Insuaste has received various awards and fellowships and exhibited nationally and internationally. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA in Anthropology/Studio Art from Dartmouth College.
