Jose Abad

Social Practice Artist and Arts Administrator, Zaccho Dance Theatre, ABD Productions

Jose Abad (Gender pronouns: He/They) is a queer performance artist and arts administrator currently based in San Francisco, CA. In 2013 Jose received a BA in Psychology and Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz, where they also began to study dance and became an active member of various community organizing groups.

It was through this experience that Jose developed their deep interest in working at the intersection of art, social justice activism, and sustainable urbanism.

Currently, they are a freelance arts administrator providing operational and community program support for Zaccho Dance Theatre and company management for dawsondancesf. Jose is also the newest Arts Facilitator in Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers’ Skywatchers Program, a performance-based arts program that brings residents of the Tenderloin into collaborative partnership with artists to create multi-disciplinary, site specific works.
