JOB OPENING: CO-DIRECTOR
Emerging Arts Professionals San Francisco Bay Area seeks a part-time (20 hrs/wk) Co-Director to work in collaboration to manage, direct, and grow the programs and network. They will be responsible for day-to-day and long term strategic administrative and programmatic management. The Co-Directors will select programs to lead individually in order to streamline program execution. Programs include the Fellowship, Affinity Circles, MADE project incubator, Artists’ Adaptability Circles, and Emergence. We anticipate producing additional professional development workshops and developing other advocacy/thought leadership opportunities.
About EAP
The Emerging Arts Professionals San Francisco Bay Area (EAP) is a network of arts workers and emerging leaders who are driven to improve the arts sector together. By empowering the individual arts worker with personal and professional development, and through the research development of new models in the field, our network works to shift the industry. Our end goal is an arts industry that is equitable for all people, is a valued and sustainable career sector, and honors the individual arts worker as a creative and whole person.
Through the organization and programs, we seek to model and act as a laboratory for industry-shifting leadership methods. Our programs are designed to put our frameworks into action and include: the fellowship, a 9-month leadership cohort; Emergence, an annual network convening; MADE, a project incubator; Artist Adaptability Circles (AAC), a cohort development program for artists working together in the community; Affinity Circles, events, and workshops. Our platforms prompt knowledge sharing (Emergence, Network Socials), community and individual empowerment (Fellowship, Emerge), and exploration of emerging models and topics (MADE, Affinity Circles).
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute programming in partnership with fellow Co-Director
- Establish and define areas of individual and shared responsibilities with Co-Director; clearly and proactively communicating shifts as they arise
- Develop and implement a fund development plan in partnership with fellow Co-Director and/or Advisory Board
- Execute administrative tasks such as payment processing, grant writing and management, organizational and program budgets, and task management
- Plan, set up, manage, and facilitate events and meetings, both in partnership with fellow Co-Director and independently
- Act as facilitator/co-facilitator for flagship programs like the fellowship and our annual network convening
- Align program and resource decisions to the equity framework and other guiding documents
- Participate in regular meetings with Co-Director, Advisory Board, and AAC Advisory Circle
- Represent EAP in partnership with fellow Co-Director in community and at public speaking engagements and other functions
- Steward network relationships, including with volunteers, fellows, network members, funders, and partners
Qualities
- Required
- Experience with collaboration; flexible and responsive leadership style
- Experience creating and managing budgets and expenditures for small organizations with multiple funding sources
- Management experience (managing staff and volunteers)
- Strong public speaking skills
- Experience and interest in facilitation and holding space in community settings
- Extensive experience with program and administrative collaboration
- Software proficiency: Google Workspace (Email, Drive, Docs, Spreadsheets, etc.), databases
- Values play and experimentation; highly creative
- Ability to learn and embody EAP’s Equity Framework and Practices
- Familiarity and comfort working with a part-time schedule and navigating part-time, asynchronous and synchronous schedules between team members
- Familiarity in the Bay Area arts/administrative field
- Knowledge of EAP’s network and programs
- Skillful conflict management skills
- Preferred
- Extensive experience with facilitation skills and public speaking
- Experience with collaborative leadership models such as Co-Directorship or distributive leadership
- Software expertise:
- AirTable, Canva and/or Adobe Suite, Quickbooks, Grant portals, Discord
- Extensive experience and success with volunteer engagement
- Extensive experience and success with program development
- Demonstrated experience in non-traditional organizational models and fund development
- Extensive experience with leadership development and co-facilitation
- Ability to inspire participation from others
- Experience with or participation in EAP’s programs and network
- Extensive experience with deflating and navigating conflict in the workplace in an ethical way
Compensation
This position is budgeted in FY2025 for 20 hours per week, at a rate of $45 per hour. This is currently a contract position (1099) and does not include a benefits package. The position includes an additional $200 monthly stipend to help defray health insurance costs. Specific working hours are flexible, with the exception of previously scheduled staff meetings and events. The Co-Directors will also have access to a pool of professional development funds.
